I have spent over30 years breaking horses in and have dealt with all creatures great and small from Miniature Shetlands to Shires and everything in between.
We took the decision at the end of 2024 to stop breaking horses in for other people and to concentrate more on schooling and training clients on their own horses and also running clinics and some low level competitions. I would like to thank all my clients over the years who have sent us horses to break in. there have been many interesting experiences and if ever i get time to do it a book will be written.
I always took great pride in my work and spent time getting the groundwork right before we backed them, ensuring that each horse had a good mouth and a reasonable level of balance and self carriage. I worked methodically through each stage and never liked to rush the youngsters but also kept the job moving forward.
Horses that I have previously broken in have gone on to be successful in Show Jumping, Eventing, Dressage, Showing and general Hacking. The competition horses have ranged from local riding club to county shows including many national level finalists and even some to international level.
